The documents state that Bartlett was aggressive in resisting the arrest in downtown Miami. One of the officers said he ordered him and all passengers in the car he was traveling in to get out of the vehicle to scan them for firearms. He suspected they were carrying guns because they heard a passenger claim the vehicle was bulletproof.
Police said they were reviewing the incident, which would include investigating all of the camera footage, and said the arrest was captured with multiple body-worn cameras. Police spokesman Michael Vega said it is also investigating several threats made against staff and facilities in response to the rapper’s arrest.
The Chicago-based artist had just released his latest album Hall of Fame on Friday. His single “Rapstar” debuted at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April. His mom and manager said on Instagram that Polo G and younger brother were sure to be in a car after an album release party.
The mother, Stacia Mac, posted a message on Facebook saying she had pawned Polo G and other people arrested at the same traffic stop. Earlier in the day on twitter, she had said: “None of these charges would be possible if the POLICE did not contact my son Polo G !!! He was NOT the driver. He was a passenger in a professionally licensed vehicle with security and correct. What more could he have done? “
There was no lawyer listed for the rapper on the prison records.
