Summer heats up quickly and with that typically comes the summer blockbuster season. However, with most movies lagging and others heading straight to streaming, this summer could look and feel a little different. Don’t worry, because we have a lot of great films to see. And if you’re a fan of the horror genre then you’re in luck. The last ride is expected to be released on July 14th on Digital / VOD. This horror anthology film brings something new and a bit old to the genre (but in a good way).
The trailer was released recently and it definitely has Tales from the crypt or Crawl show Mood. The film consists of three different stories or short films, each with something unique. The three stories include one about the spirit of an 80s fitness trainer, a tattoo that doesn’t stop, and an Uber driver picking up her end customer for the night without knowing what to expect on that trip.
The last ride Stars Keegan Chambers (Age of the Living Dead), Annette Wozniak (Safe house) and Matthew Chisholm (Secret santa claus). From the trailer, this horror anthology looks very gritty and somber, it has almost an ’80s early’ 90s vibe, and looks promising in the weird, gross, and creepy section. You need that in a horror movie. From the girl trapped in the trunk of a car to the black guy Poison moving tattoo in style.
This Canadian film was written and directed by Mike McMurray and he also designed the poster. The poster goes perfectly with most of the ’80s style horror films we’ve all come to love over the years. The trailer gives you enough of the film without giving anything away. Just enough to taste each story while keeping the mystery alive.
Even if July doesn’t feel like a horror month, it’s nice to see another “story” movie come out. Seeing something about the way short stories are brought to life has always fitted well with the genre. Movies like trick or treatingThe ABC of death and The morgue are some prime examples of great anthologies. Will this be the next big one? We’ll have to wait until July 14th to find out.
