Over the course of nearly 50 issues and hundreds of podcasts, we’ve interviewed many of the world’s top luthiers. On August 12th, 2022 we are hosting our very first virtual “master class” with two of these characters: TJ Thompson and Mark Stutman (Folkway Music). This pair of fretboard-peak alums is admired around the world for their vintage repairs by Martin and Gibson (each); They are also familiar with the pages of our print magazine and our podcast. Every time I talk to them, I learn something new.
During this 90 minute Zoom workshop (which is sure to fly by) I will read the heads of the two guitar makers about the care, feeding, and maintenance of vintage flat-top guitars. We’ll hear a little about their craft, their latest guitar discoveries, and the problems / repairs that keep them up at night. With luck, you’ll be even better informed when the time comes to buy, sell, or repair your next guitar.
The workshop is hosted by Chicago’s famous Old Town School; the future of the home of the next Fretboard Summit. It will take place on August 12th, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. (Central time). Think of it as a glimpse into the guitar freak fun that awaits when everyone is safe to meet in person. Get your ticket here for just $ 10.
