For six decades now, Norman Blake has been the guitarist of a guitarist. From his work on Bob Dylans Nashville skyline Album, to the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band The circle will be unbroken, to his influential 1970s solo albums (and duo albums with Tony Rice!), his homespun how-to videos, and even the Oh brother where are you Blake’s soundtrack has influenced several generations of flat pickers. Meanwhile, he’s kind of made the impossible seem simple and collected some of the coolest vintage acoustics imaginable.
At the age of 83, Blake released his first album on Smithsonian Folkways. Day after day. It will be released on October 22, 2021 and will feature some of the artist’s most popular folk and traditional songs. the FJ is proud to share “I’m Free Again” from this project.
