Paper Route Empire was published in honor of esteemed co-founder Young Dolph Long live Dolph, an eight-track compilation album dedicated to the memory of the late rapper and entrepreneur.
Beginning with Jay Fizzle’s vulnerable single “Long Live Dolph,” the dedication project celebrates the legacy of Memphis’ mainstay through the words of those who admired him most: his roster of up-and-coming artists. Featuring PRE signers Key Glock, Big Moochie Grape, Kenny Muney, Jay Fizzle, Joddy Badass, Snupe Bandz, Paper Route Woo and Chitana, the album is a love letter to the former label CEO, complete with heartfelt tracks “Role Model” and ” In Dolph, whom we trust.”
Dolph’s voice is heard throughout the album, thanks to clips of the Chicago-born rapper expressing excitement at signers like Kenny Muney and a tender verse of Dolph himself, alongside Chitana in the loyalty-fueled “Love for Me.” Paper Route Empire recently announced a series of album releases for their signers throughout 2022, in addition to unreleased music by Dolph himself, in the form of a posthumous album entitled Paper path Frank, which is scheduled for release later this year.
Dolph, born Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was fatally shot in November at the age of 36 outside a bakery in his hometown of Memphis. A wave of tributes and commemorations followed, including the renaming of a street by the city of Memphis after the hometown hero of his childhood community. On Wednesday, two suspects in Dolph’s murder, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith, appeared before a judge for the first time and faced multiple charges, including first-degree murder. “As a family we mourn. As an organization, we have never been stronger or more prepared to build on the foundation Dolph has laid for us,” Paper Route Empire CEO Daddyo said in a statement.
