Frank Turner is making his way to becoming the first-ever British No.1 FTHC (Polydor), the ninth studio album by the English punk rock poet.
FTHC (an initialism for Frank Turner hardcore) has more than doubled the weekend sales of its closest competition, according to the Official Charts Company, taking the absolute lead on the midweek charts.
If it holds its position when the chart is released this Friday, it will give Turner its first leader after two near misses; his 2013 album Cassette Deck Heart (2013) and 2015 Positive songs for negative people (2015) both came in second.
One-time Mercury Prize winner Alt-J is #2 on the official chart update with The dream (Infectious Music), the fourth studio album by the indie rock formation. If it stays the course, it will give the group a third top 10 on the official albums chart after 2014 It’s all yours (#1) and Relaxer 2017 (#6).
The fourth joint album by Slash and Myles Kennedy also caused a sensation in the charts 4 (BMG), which is on course for a No. 3 start. If it stays that way, it will surpass the 2018 release live the dreamwhich reached No. 4 and became Slash’s highest charting album in the UK outside of his Guns N’ Roses work.

Brooklyn-based Big Thief earned their first UK Top 10 album Dragon New Warm Mountain I believe in you (4AD), their fourth studio album. It debuted at #8 on the Midweek charts.
Finally, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder scored with a first solo top ten bag earthling (EMI), new at number 9. earthling is the third solo album from the rock legend inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame after 2007 Into the wild and 2011s Ukulele Songs (which peaked at No. 49).
