Can Dave break this Encanto spell?
The ‘Funky Friday’ rapper topped the UK singles chart race with ‘Starlight’, a surprise release to celebrate the start of his UK tour.
“Starlight” burns brightly on the First Look chart, which ranks songs based on sales and streams consumed in the first 48 hours of the chart cycle. If it keeps its place, “Starlight” will give the Brit Award and Mercury Prize winner his second No. 1 and dethrone the throne Encantos “We don’t talk about Bruno” after a seven-week straight run at the top.
Whatever happens, when the actual chart is released later this week, expect a new leader. “Bruno” crashes in chart explosion from 1-9.
With ‘Starlight’ set to debut at No. 1, man from Down Under Luude is gearing up to topple the UK Top 5 for the first time. The Australian DJ/producer’s reimagined version of ‘Down Under’, starring Men at Work’s Colin Hay, climbs to #6-5 on the First Look charts.
Brighton, England rapper ArrDee is on the verge of his fifth top 40 record in less than a year as “Come & Go” hits the charts at number 14.
Close behind is Camila Cabello’s blockbuster pop collab with Ed Sheeran, “Bam Bam.” It debuts at number 16 on the charts and is set to become the “Havana” singer’s 15th Top 40 single and Sheeran’s 53rd.
The official UK Singles Chart is released late Friday local time.
