Thanks to his track “House I Built,” new Death Row Records owner Snoop Dogg has released the first-ever virtual music video produced in the Metaverse sandbox.
The Sandbox and Animoca Brands announced the news on Thursday. Later this year, Snoop Dogg will headline his first Metaverse concert, also at The Sandbox. His track “House I Built” appears on his latest album BODR, released in February via Death Row Records.
The Dogg appears as a voxel avatar in the image depicting Blondish alongside Steve Aoki, created using VoxEdit and Game Maker, The Sandbox’s free UGC creation tools.
Snoop Dogg said in a statement: “The track ‘House I Built’ draws a parallel between building my life and career and building my Snoopverse virtual world in The Sandbox. Whether it’s in the metaverse or in-universe, it’s about keeping it real, being yourself, and making the most of every opportunity.”
Arthur Madrid, CEO and co-founder of The Sandbox, said in a statement: “We are building a new entertainment platform where artists, talent of all kinds and brands have access to a new generation of consumers who own and collect digital objects like LAND moments to remember.”
“Today in The Sandbox, Snoop Dogg is building the Snoopverse, a place where his avatar can give exclusive concerts only available to his fans,” he added. “Snoop’s new one-of-a-kind Metaverse music video ‘House I Built’ provides a tangible example today, but more are coming very soon.”
