Jennifer Lopez – aka Jennifer Affleck as of this weekend – penned a lengthy letter to fans highlighting all the sweet, personal details about her wedding to Ben Affleck.
The couple was engaged in 2002. Many years later, in 2021, they rekindled their romance, getting engaged again this year and married in a wedding ceremony in Las Vegas on Saturday night (July 16).
Lopez confirmed their nuptials and spoke about the romantic, special moment that was a long time coming in a letter to fans who subscribed to her newsletter, On the JLo, just a day after their wedding.
She signed the letter with the name “Jennifer Lynn Affleck”. The new Mrs. Affleck also shared a charming Wedding Edition camera roll of selfies and snaps documenting her wedding day.

We made it. Love is beautiful. love is kind And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.
Exactly what we wanted. Last night we flew into Vegas, queued for a license with four other couples who all made the same trip to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us, two men were holding hands and holding on. Before us, a young couple who made the three-hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday—we all want the same thing—for the world to recognize us as partners and for the world to recognize our love through the ancient and almost universal symbol of marriage .
At midnight we barely reached the little white wedding chapel. They graciously stayed open for a few minutes, letting us take photos in a pink Cadillac convertible that was apparently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted to show Elvis himself it cost extra and he was in bed).
With the best witnesses imaginable, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and presented each other with the rings we will wear for the rest of our lives. They even had Bluetooth for a (short) trek down the aisle. But in the end it was the best possible wedding we could imagine. One we dreamed of a long time ago, and one that (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible, and each other) became a reality a very, very long time ago.
When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is to love, nurture, understand, be patient, loving, and good to each other and the promise we make. We had. And so much more. The best night of our lives. Thanks to the Little White Wedding Chapel for allowing me to use the break room to change while Ben changed in the men’s room.
They were right when they said, “All you need is love”. We are so thankful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family with five amazing children and a life we could never look forward to more. Hang in there long enough and you might find the best moment of your life driving around Las Vegas at 11:30 am in the tunnel of love with your children and the one you will spend eternity with. Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and it’s worth waiting for.
With love,
Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck
