Is a new collaboration between Maren Morris and Zedd imminent?
The country singer and dance producer appeared to hint at the possibility on social media this weekend, with both teasing that a follow-up to their 2018 pop hit “The Middle” (featuring Grey) could be in the works.
“Round 2?” Morris wrote on Saturday (August 13) on twitterwhere she shared a photo of the couple.
“Shall we do this again? Zedd invited in his own tweetshare the same picture.
“The Middle” was a hit on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, where it stayed at #1 for an impressive 33 weeks. It also made the top 10 on the Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at number 5.
“That was one of the fastest sessions I’ve ever done,” Zedd said in a 2018 interview about recording the track with Morris billboard. “I’ve been known to record a singer until there’s basically no voice left – just to be safe, so I never have to ask anyone to come back. That was 20 takes, two hours: Maren really knew the song.”
“I’ll never forget hearing it for the first time,” Morris added. “Technically, it was in the Target ad [aired during the 2018 Grammys]but listen to it [WRVW] The River, the pop station here in Nashville, has something to do with radio waves coming through your car’s speakers. Country fans might have been scared [me] They left the nest at first, but when the song came out they were just proud of me because I made a catchy as hell song.
