TREASURE welcomes a new era with one of the catchiest K-pop singles of the year.
The boy band’s new EP The second step: chapter two follows The second step: chapter one from February, who delivered the best performance of the group billboardGlobal charts to date: Lead single “JikJin” peaked at #110 on the Global 200, while b-side “Darari” also charted at #169 after a surge in viral activity.
Co-written and co-produced by TREASURE members Choi Hyunsuk, Yoshi and Haruto, latest single ‘Hello’ is all about swaying synths, following the boys through moments from jock jam dance breakdowns to stylish rap sections. The refrain’s repetitive lines (“I’m like ‘Hello, hello, hello, where have you been all my life?'” and “Yes, I’m looking, I’m looking, I’m looking for you”) give TREASURE a handful of undeniable hooks and make the song an easy catchy tune.
The accompanying video shows the boy band embracing bright and colorful sets that emphasize the TikTok-ready choreography. At one point, members are holding signs for “Hello” in different languages such as Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, German and Indonesian, appealing to today’s global K-pop audience.
