Every year at the Wintergrass Festival in Washington, the fretboard journal hosts a vintage instrument workshop where great musicians can perform on a few dozen rare and vintage guitars and mandolins. It’s a rare opportunity for audiences to hear some legendary (and not-so-legendary) vintage acoustic instruments in a live setting.
For 2022, mandolinists Sharon Gilchrist and Joe K. Walsh joined guitarists Kenny Smith and Dale Adkins on stage. The quartet performed on a variety of vintage Martins, Gibsons, Washburns, Regals and others.
