Stacey Abrams held up a “My body, my choice” sign onstage as Latto performed “Pussy” on Saturday night (October 22) in Atlanta.
The Democratic nominee for Georgia Governor took the stage at the State Farm Arena, where Latto opened for Lizzo on The Special Tour. The message on the sign Abrams held up was repeated with a speech to the crowd.
“I won’t interrupt your fun. I just want to remind you that if you believe in my body and my choices, I need your voice,” Abrams said.
“I need your great energy,” she added. “Let’s get it!”
Taking to Instagram, Abrams wrote: “Thanks for sharing your stage with me @latto777. Time to vote and protect a woman’s right to vote. StaceyAbrams.con/voting.”
Abrams was debating with current Republican Gov. Brian Kemp earlier this week as early voting began.
“This is a governor who has been beating his chest for the last four years but has done very little for most Georgians,” she said, according to reports from The Associated Press. “He softened gun laws and flooded our streets. He weakened the rights of women. He has denied women access to reproductive care. The most dangerous thing Georgia faces is four more Brian Kemp years.”
Below is a clip from Latto’s show shared by Abrams herself, as well as her speech, which was recorded by a fan at the show.
