If you’re looking for a classic cookie recipe that has just a little bit more going on than your average chocolate chip cookie, bake this M&M cookie recipe.
These cookies are soft and chewy with a little crunch and chocolate from the M&M candies. I used all white chocolate M&Ms, but feel free to use other colors for holidays or other occasions, or swap them out for peanut M&Ms or other flavors.
This M&M Cookie recipe is super easy and can be made in about 30 minutes or less. You can give these as gifts, or double this recipe and freeze the cookie dough to customize it any way you like, or have something in your freezer to pull out in case of surprise guests.

Ingredients for M&M biscuits:
- butter, soft
- Granulated White Sugar
- Brown sugar
- egg
- vanilla extract (make your own!)
- all purpose flour
- Salt
- baking powder
- M&M sweets
directions:
Beat soft butter and sugar until fluffy. Then stir in the egg and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms. Then stir in the candies.
Bake at 350°F for 10-11 minutes.
Tips for success:
- Start with softened butter. It’s best to put the butter outside the night before unless your house is fairly warm (maybe it’s summer?). Then maybe it won’t take that long.
- If you spoon the batter onto the baking sheet before baking, the cookies will look a little shaggy.
- Alternatively, you can roll them into balls of dough or shape them with a spatula. You can see the difference in the photo below. Either way, the cookies will turn out delicious.
- You can buy M&M candies in a single color, in a seasonal color or mixed.

FAQ
frequently asked Questions
Can you use regular M&Ms for baking?
Yes. You don’t have to use the mini kind or options you find in the baking aisle. All M&M sweets can be used in baking.
Why don’t M&Ms melt when baked?
The hard caramel coating prevents the chocolate from melting during baking. But if you bite into a cookie that’s still hot, the chocolate inside will melt.
How long do cookies stay fresh?
If you keep cookies in a tightly sealed container at room temperature, they’ll stay fresh for at least a week, if not longer.
