Lizzo took a moment on a Sunday morning to share her concerns about abandonment culture.
“This may be a random timing to say this, but it’s on my heart. Abandoning culture is appropriation,” Lizzo tweeted on Sunday (January 8).
“There was real outrage from truly marginalized people, and now it’s trendy, abused and misguided,” she wrote.
Lizzo continued, “I hope we can step out of this and focus our outrage on the real issues.”
Just days earlier, the “About Damn Time” singer had taken to social media to end the “tired” “body discourse.”
“I’ve seen comments like, ‘Oh my god, I liked you when you were fat. Why did you lose weight?’ “Oh my god, why did you get a BBL? I used to like your body.’ “Oh my god, you’re so tall. You have to lose weight for your health” to “Oh my God, you are so small. You need one – or tits or something.” “Oh my god, why did she do all that work? It’s too much work,'” she said in a TikTok video on Friday.
She continued, “Are we okay? do you see the deception Do you realize artists aren’t here to live up to your standards of beauty? Artists are here to make art. And this body is art. I’ll do what I want with this body. I wish comments cost you money so we can see how much time we’re wasting on the wrong thing. Can we leave that s- back there, please?”
