Sean Strickland and Nassourdine Imavov prepare to face off in UFC Fight Night 217. The light heavyweight bout takes place on Saturday (July 14) at UFC APEX in Las Vegas and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Strickland was announced days before UFC 67 as Kelvin Gastelum’s replacement. Gastelum had to withdraw due to a mouth injury.
“I am very disappointed to say the least. That’s not how I wanted to start in 2023,” says Gastelum tweeted on Monday (January 9). “I busted my ass and fought my way through a lot [adversity] and was ready to put on one hell of a show this weekend. My apologies to Imavov and his camp, as well as @ufc and all the fans.”
