David Crosby, the renegade musician who was part of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, is no longer of this earth. Despite his many flaws, Crosby’s place in rock ‘n’ roll cannot be underestimated. He hung out with the Beatles, produced Joni Mitchell’s debut album and performed at Woodstock. His run-ins with authorities and colorful opinions have sometimes trumped his musical legacy, but somehow the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee always carried on through 2021 with his final solo album. For free.
Vintage Rock.com is proud to have covered David Crosby’s activities on a number of fronts including the 2006 CSNY reunion show in upstate New York, the 2011 show with Graham Nash in Long Beach, the solo concert in New York City 2014 and the 2019 California Saga 2 appearance in Los Angeles. And of course we had to commend him for his contributions to the classic Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young release, Déjà-vu.
Along with the concert reviews, photographers Ron Lyon, Kimberly Annette and Joe Schaeffer were able to capture David Crosby on stage in 2011, 2014 and 2019. As a tribute to the man, here are a few select shots that we thought we’d share.
