During the Spider-Man: No Way Home launch event, Tom Holland revealed how surprising he was when he first met Willem Dafoe on set.
Featuring all but the appearances of Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx in the Spider-Man: No Way Home Unconfirmed until the arrival of the latest trailer, it must have killed Tom Holland not being able to share stories about the stars he’s worked with in what appears to be his Marvel Cinematic Universe Swan song mostly. However, with the final confirmation that Willem Dafoe is back in the franchise as the Green Goblin, Holland has made it possible to reveal what happened when he met the star of the original Spiderman Movie from 2002.
During the Regal Sherman Oaks event to unveil the new trailer on Wednesday, Tom Holland told those in attendance that due to the extreme secrecy surrounding the appearance of certain characters in the film, he managed to encounter Dafoe without knowing it was him.
“There was actually a funny story about it when I first met Willem, because obviously at that time it was a big secret for all the villains in the movie that they were in the movie, so they walked around the set with it, and of course these are Guys very excited to come back and bring these roles back to life but they came on set a week before filming started just to see what it was like meeting Jon, meeting myself, hanging out on set and having a good time.” And I met this guy in a cape and I said, “Look out, mate.” And he took off his hood, and I almost really got scared. I said, “Oh shit, the leprechaun’s here!” But he was lovely, he was truly wonderful and a real pleasure to work with.”
Willem Dafoe is just one of the villains whose presence in the film has been hinted at for months but was only confirmed this week, with the character appearing on a newly released poster, along with the hinted return of Sandman, The Lizard and Electro alongside Doc Ock Who was confirmed months ago both unofficially and then in the first trailer. However, fans were still not happy about not being able to see that either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield were finally confirmed to be returning from other “universes” in their respective Spider-Man roles, and despite both actors openly denying their involvement to have. Fans have been quick to discount this as Marvel keeps more secrets.
In fact, the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has only encouraged reassurance that both actors will appear in the film, not least since certain parts of the trailer suggest that some edits were made to make their characters stand out from the scenes remove , one scene actually having Andrew Garfield’s arm still left behind when the rest of him was digitally removed.
All in all, it’s only a month away now Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters and will likely claim its place as the biggest box-office hit of the year. This message was first reported by screen rant.
