Elsie introduced me to this Marry Me Chicken and now I’m obsessed with it. We eat a lot of chicken at our house, so it’s fun to have different recipes on rotation…otherwise I end up making air fryer chicken wings every night. lol
From what I understand it’s called “Marry Me Chicken” because once you make this recipe for someone, they’ll want to marry you (or maybe you just want to marry yourself!).
What I love about this recipe is that it’s a creamy, flavorful way to dress roast chicken. You end up with this delicious sauce that you can soak up with bread or pasta.

How to make Marry Me Chicken
First, we lightly bread the chicken and pan fry it until cooked through.
Then in the same pan we add the other ingredients to make a creamy and flavorful sauce.
Add the chicken back in and garnish with some fresh herbs and you’re ready to serve! If you plan to make toasted bread or pasta with it, I recommend starting after the chicken is done.
Substitutions & Additions
- If you want a thicker sauce, you can stir in some unflavored yogurt or sour cream.
- Feel free to add other things to the sauce – anything your family likes. Next time I make this I’ll try adding some chopped green olives. Also, I think slivered almonds or chopped walnuts might be fun too. you do you!
- You don’t necessarily have to serve this with pasta or bread, I just like it. You can also try cauliflower rice or just a green salad.

Fried chicken in a creamy sauce
instructions
-
Halve the chicken breasts lengthways. Try to cut them so that all four pieces are relatively the same size.
-
Mix flour and breadcrumbs on a plate. Coat the chicken in the mixture.
-
In a large skillet add butter and olive oil over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the chicken.
-
Cook each side for 4-5 minutes until chicken is cooked through. Check by cutting the largest piece in half and see if any pink remains.
-
Remove the chicken from the pan, but keep using the pan.
-
Add the garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Boil for a minute.
-
Stir in the broth, heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Boil 2 minutes.
-
Now stir in the grated Parmesan cheese to bind the sauce.
-
Return the chicken to the pan and garnish with fresh herbs.
-
Serve with toasted bread, pasta or a salad.
Remarks
Breadcrumbs are an ingredient I usually have in my pantry, but if you don’t want to just buy it for the 2 tablespoons this recipe calls for, you can just use a little more all-purpose flour to bread the chicken instead.
