Gunman also dead, while six others, including a responding officer, were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries
Five people are dead after a shooting at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky Monday morning, April 10. The Louisville Metro Police Department also confirmed that the gunman is dead.
On Twitter, the LMPD said that calls about the shooting at the Old National Bank came in at around 8:30 a.m. ET. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and the attacker was reportedly killed not long after, according to NBC News.
Along with the five dead, six others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Among the injured is reportedly a responding LMPD officer.
According to the LMPD’s most recent updates (at around 10:39 a.m. ET), “There is no longer a danger to the public,” though they are still asking the public to avoid the area near the bank. Police are also asking anyone with information to call their anonymous tipline.
On Twitter, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said, “LMPD has confirmed a shooting situation in downtown Louisville with multiple casualties. I am headed there now. Please pray for all of the families impacted and for the city of Louisville.”
