The story behind the cover of our 52nd issue: Bluegrass phenom Jake Eddy takes us through one of his favorite guitars, a 1951 Martin D-18.
As is clear to anyone who has seen it up close, Jake Eddy does not play his instruments. The pick wear on this guitar is almost entirely his own (it looks left-handed, but that’s due to Jake’s feverish rhythm playing).
Like a gunslinger, he also put a few notches in the side…one for every Opry appearance he’s had.
This guitar graces the cover of the Fretboard JournalThe 52nd issue is now being mailed. Jake will also be performing at our Fretboard Summit 2023 in Chicago August 24-26.
For the completists out there, here’s Jake playing “Soppin’ the Gravy” without the guitar chart…
