The recording process for ‘Jamaica Time’ was abruptly halted when Buffett’s plane, carrying a star-studded entourage including U2’s Bono, was mistakenly targeted by Jamaican police during a flight to Negril. The aircraft, mistaken for a drug smuggler, endured seven gunshot hits, damaging the fuselage and causing a moment of panic. Miraculously, no one was harmed in the incident, and Buffett eventually salvaged the experience by releasing a song titled ‘Jamaica Mistaica.’ Despite the turbulence surrounding its creation, ‘Jamaica Time’ emerged as a testament to resilience and creativity.
