Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo and Reese Witherspoon also took to Instagram to wish the singer happy birthday
Ariana Grande turned 31 on Wednesday and shared a nostalgic video from her childhood to celebrate the moment.
In the clip shared to Instagram of the singer-songwriter as a young girl, Grande is seen happily singing and dancing as someone off-camera asks, “Why don’t you sing the Céline Dion?” The video was simply captioned with an emoji bubble, in reference to Grande’s character, Glinda, on Wicked.
In the comments, Grande’s co-star Cynthia Erivo wrote, “Happy birthday my sweet sister,” and actress Reese Witherspoon posted, “Oh yessss! Please never lose this energy !”
The Eternal Sunshine‘s brother, Frankie Grande, also commented, “A STAR WAS BORN!!”
Earlier this month, Grande released “The Boy Is Mine” remix — a collaboration with R&B powerhouses Brandy and Monica, 26 years after they debuted the original hit of the same name in 1998.
Grande had previously announced the remix on social media, writing, “I ……… cannot believe this is real (i don’t know if i will even long after it’s out).” The “7 Rings” singer also thanked the two greats, “not only for joining me for this moment, but for your generosity, your kindness, and for the countless ways in which you have inspired me.”
The artist released her seventh album, Eternal Sunshine, in March. The LP opened at Number One on the Billboard 200 — Grande’s sixth album to top the chart.
