Ingredients to Make an Antipasto Charcuterie Wreath
Here are the ingredients I used for my antipasto skewers, but feel free to use your favorite cheeses, meats, or other antipasto ingredients! It’s customizable to make it just the way you like it. It’s the perfect gluten-free appetizer to balance out all those sweet treats at your gathering!
- Pepperoni and Salami Slices: Fold the deli meats to make skewering them easier!
- Marinated Mozzarella Balls: I love using marinated mozzarella balls because they add so much flavor! They are also called pearls and can be found in the deli.
- Pepper Jack Cheese: Cube the cheese of your choice! We love the extra kick from pepper jack cheese.
- Cherry Tomatoes: Perfect for skewering. Grape tomatoes work great too!
- Black and Kalamata Olives: The combo of the two olives is delicious! Green olives are a fun festive alternative.
- Artichoke Hearts: Canned artichoke hearts add great flavor and texture.
- Petite Dill Pickles: Everyone’s favorite antipasto ingredient at our house!
- Fresh Basil and Rosemary: Fresh herbs to garnish.
- Toothpicks: Make sure the toothpicks are large and sturdy enough to hold the ingredients.
Let’s Make an Antipasto Charcuterie Wreath!
Now that your ingredients are ready, gather your helpers! My kids love to help skewer the ingredients. There’s no right or wrong way to make the skewers. It’s the shape of the wreath that you can easily assemble when you’re ready. It will definitely be the talk of the party!
- Prepare Ingredients/ Fold the Meat: Prepare the ingredients ahead of time by slicing, draining, and cutting the cheese. Fold the salami or pepperoni in half two times before skewering.
- Alternate Ingredients to Fill the Skewers: Skewer the ingredients on the toothpicks. Alternate and evenly distribute the ingredients.
- Shape and Garnish: Shape the wreath on a large board or round platter. Arrange the skewers in a circular shape. Garnish with fresh herbs specific to the season like rosemary and basil. Add the herbs wherever desired to resemble the look of a wreath!
Tasty Ingredient Variations
Mix and match any ingredients your heart desires! This adorable charcuterie wreath can be made however you like. Adjust any ingredients to satisfy your guests!
- Bread: This antipasto charcuterie wreath is a great gluten-free appetizer, but add bread if you’d like! Use rustic crusty bread from the bakery. We love sourdough bread, but a baguette or bread with herbs would be delicious!
- Olives: I use both black and kalamata olives but green olives would add some variety in flavor and color. Or just use one kind of olive, it’s up to you!
- Meats: I added salami and pepperoni, but prosciutto and peppered salami would add a salty and peppery flavor.
- Cheeses: Use a sharp, flavorful cheese as well as a mild, creamy cheese. There are so many delicious cheese options, have fun with it!
- Add Flavor: Drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar if you want to elevate the flavors!
Storing Leftovers
This antipasto charcuterie wreath will disappear quickly, but if you have leftovers, simply store the skewers in an airtight container.
- In the Refrigerator: Store any leftovers in an airtight container. Keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days!
- Make Ahead: This is also a great appetizer to make ahead because it stores so well. Prepare and shape the skewers then cover with plastic wrap. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days in advance!
