Creole Seasoning Goes Well With Everything

There are times when I sit down to eat something I’ve just cooked, and something is missing. Typically, I will sprinkle a little of my creole seasoning on it, and viola! I don’t know if it’s the paprika or the hint of heat from the cayenne that just makes everything come together and taste amazing. You will love having this homemade seasoning to add a little extra flavor to any dish!

Homemade Creole Seasoning Recipe

Whether you’re cooking classic creole dishes or just want to add a kick to everyday meals. This homemade creole seasoning blend is a must have in your pantry! Here’s how easy it is to mix together.

  1. Add Spices: In a small bowl, combine the paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, white pepper, black pepper, dried oregano, dried thyme, and dried basil.
  2. Mix: Whisk until well blended and store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Tips for Creole Seasoning

Here are some simple tips for ensuring your spice mix has the perfect amount of heat and ways to use it!

  • What if I can’t handle spice? This seasoning blend has a bit of a kick because of the cayenne pepper. If you aren’t a fan of spice, you can reduce the amount of cayenne pepper. 
  • What can I use creole seasoning in? This spice blend is great for meat rubs, seasoning vegetables, and any southern, creole, or Cajun dishes.

Storing Homemade Creole Seasoning

Creole seasoning is great to have in the spice cabinet to add to so many of your Creole cuisine recipes. It stores really well for up to a year!

  • Storing: You can reuse an old spice jar, buy a new, empty spice jar, or even use a ziplock bag! Just make sure it is airtight! 
  • How long can this be stored? If you ensure it is airtight, it will keep at room temperature for 1 year.
