Donald Trump unleashed the f-bomb during an angry rant about Israel and Iran yesterday—much to the delight of late-night TV hosts.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday morning after the two country declared a ceasefire, Trump said he was “not happy” with Israel and Iran. “We basically have two countries that are fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing,” he said. “[Iran] violated, but Israel violated it too. Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs — the likes of which I’ve never seen before, the biggest load that we’ve seen — I’m not happy with Israel.”
On Jimmy Kimmel Kimmel, guest host Diego Luna noted that “one of the worst parts of hosting a late-night show is that I have to keep up on what President Trump is doing every second.” He shared that he was forced to go on Truth Social for the first time and that while the situation in the Middle East is complicated “thankfully your president is a political genius.”
After playing the clip of Trump declaring “they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing,” Luna said, “By the way, that’s what many people say about him. He doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing!”
On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon quipped of Trump’s televised rant, “Trump wasn’t messing around. A few seconds later he threatened to put both countries in a time out.” He added, “Thankfully, as of now, the ceasefire has held, and it’s about as stable as an Ikea cabinet with eight screws missing.”
During his monologue on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert recapped the ceasefire news and the Republican reaction to Trump’s efforts, including claims that he could win the Nobel Peace Prize. “I’m not sure they give an award for bombing people into submission,” Colbert replied.
In response to the clip of Trump’s angry f-bomb, Colbert said, “Wow, he is so mad and/or so projecting.”
The show also declared “fuck” as the word of the day.
On Late Night, Seth Meyers dedicated an entire segment to the situation, inquiring, “When’s the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony?” Meyers explained that Trump has been very upset about the conflict, which included his profane moment on the White House lawn.
“Whoa, talk about dropping a big load,” Meyers said after playing the clip. “I gotta say, even having zero standards of expectations for Trump, it’s still surprising to see the president drop an f-bomb on the White House grounds. Remember when Biden whispered it to Obama and everyone on the right lost their fucking minds?”
He added, “I’m also a little surprised Trump would drop an f-bomb on camera because he’s usually so concerned about optics. For example, just last week he wouldn’t say the word ‘erection’ when construction crews were installing new flagpoles on the White House lawn.”
