Adele’s ‘30’ at Sixth Week at No. 1, ‘Encanto’ in Top 10 – Billboard

Adeles 30th remains at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album charts for the sixth time in a row and for a total of week (chart from January 8, 2022). According to MRC Data, the effort in the US generated 99,000 album equivalent units (-53%) in the week of December 24-30.

30th is the second album to be released in 2021 and ranked number 1 on the Billboard 200 for at least six weeks, after Morgan Wallens Dangerous: the double album (with 10 weeks at the top).

Also in the new Top 10, two albums hit the region for the first time: the new one Encanto Movie soundtrack ranges from 110-7, while the classic Christmas compilation A Christmas present for you from Phil Spector jumps 11-10.

The Billboard 200 charts rank the most popular albums of the week in the US based on multimetric consumption, measured in equivalent album units. Units include album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equivalent to one album sale or 10 tracks of an album sold, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid / subscription on-demand audio and video streams generated from songs on an album. The new diagram from January 8, 2022 (where 30th spends a sixth week on No. 1) is published in full on poster‘s website on January 5th (one day later than usual because of the holiday week). from 30th99,000 equivalent album units earned in the US in the week ending December 30th, album sales are 71,500 (down 60%) and SEA units are 26,000 (down 13%; equivalent to 35.45 million on demand -Streams of the tracks of the set) and TEA units comprise 1,500 units (plus less than 1%).

30th debuted at number 1 on the December 4th chart with 839,000 units earned. It then saw its second through sixth weeks count of 288,000; 193,000; 183,000; 212,000 or 99,000 units.

Michael Bublé’s former number 1 Christmas remains in second place with 53,000 equivalent album units earned (minus 31%). The set is also spending its 100th straight week in the charts, Bublé’s third album to hit that threshold after 2007 Call me irresponsible (113 weeks) and 2005 It’s time (143).

Three other former # 1’s round out the top 5, like Taylor Swifts Red (Taylor’s Version) is a non-mover in third place with 47,000 units (minus 39%), Olivia Rodrigos Angry increases by 5: 4 with 46,000 units (minus 25%) and Morgan Wallens Dangerous: twice as much Album returns to the top 10 after a week-long hike outside of the region. It climbs 12-5 with 43,000 units (down 10%).

Dangerous spent its first 49 weeks on the charts in the top 10 after debuting at number 1 on the list on January 23, 2021. It fell out of the top 10 in its 50th week of the chart when it was 6-12 on the January 1, 2022 list. Dangerous now has a total of 50 weeks in the top 10. It is one of only four country albums with at least 50 weeks in the region in the 65-year history of the charts. Among the country sets are Taylor Swifts Fearless has the most weeks in the top 10 at 58, followed by Shania Twains come over (53), Dangerous and Garth Brooks’ Ropin ‘the wind (the last two with 50 each). Among all genres, Dangerous is only the seventh album since 2000, which was in the top 10 for 50 weeks. Of all the albums released since 2000, only Adeles is 21 (84 weeks), Swifts 1989 (59), Swifts Fearless (58), Ed Sheerans ÷ (divide) (53), Lady Gagas The fame (51), Post Malones Hollywood’s bleeding (50) and Dangerous Have logged in the top 10 for at least 50 weeks.

Nat King Coles The Christmas carol climbs 8-6, corresponding to its high, which was first reached on the chart on January 2, 2021. The set earned 42,000 equivalent album units (down 23%) in the last week of tracking.

The soundtrack to the Walt Disney animated film Encanto climbed into the top 10 in the first week with 110-7. In its fifth week the set achieved 41,000 equivalent album units in the charts (plus 220%). The soundtrack album with songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda was released on November 19 before the film hit US theaters on November 24. The film was released via streaming service Disney + a month later (December 24th) on the first day of the chart’s last tracking week). Encanto is the most recently released soundtrack that has since made it into the top 10 Frozen II rose by 15: 3 in the charts of December 7, 2019, on the way to number 1 a week later.

Vince Guaraldi Trio’s soundtrack to the animated TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas drops 6-8 with 41,000 earned equivalent album units (minus 33%) and Mariah Careys Merry Christmas falls 7-9 with 39,000 units (down 30%).

The classic vacation combination A Christmas present for you from Phil Spector, Published in 1963, ranks in the top 10 for the first time as it reaches levels 11-10. The set earned 39,000 equivalent album units for the week ending December 30th (down 21%). The Spector-produced album features well-known favorites heard over the Christmas season – and prominently on streaming service playlists – such as “Sleigh Ride” by The Ronettes and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home” by Darlene Love).
