This post is in collaboration with Natrol. All opinions are my own.
Can you believe that daylight saving time is just around the corner ?! I can’t lie – I’m so excited for the longer evenings. I wrote about a good night’s sleep in December and wanted to share some other routines and products that I tried. I told my heart mate this week that when I sleep well, I feel so motivated and ready for the day – I really believe that a good night’s sleep makes all the difference. I also tried Natrol’s melatonin gums to help relieve my occasional insomnia and wanted to share my review on the same as well.
Last year I talked about how bedding can help you sleep well, which I still swear by. For me, cool linen sheets make all the difference! Anyway, here are a few other things that work for me. Let’s be realistic though – nothing is ever perfect, but they made a huge difference so I hope they can help you too:
1. Establish a regular sleep schedule
I try as best I can to get the same bed and wake up times, which made a big difference to me. When I stick to this routine, I feel like my body always knows when to get up, which means I’m more relaxed. However, sometimes I have to work late at night to get my job done and I just can’t keep my usual wake up times. When this happens I try to be realistic and just slide my outfit by an hour and take a short 10 minute nap during the day.
2. Practice every day
Just wait You read “every day,” I don’t mean a 60 minute spin class every day. I mean something like walking for 10 minutes – or even just stretching. I feel like I sleep better after moving or doing something during the day. While this exercise is hardly practice, the fact that I’ve done something is good for me and helps me fall asleep.
3. Stop the screens
I’ve always liked to sleep without lights or even those annoying TV LEDs. I even always travel with black tape so I can stick it over TVs or blinking bedside phones in hotel rooms! I am trying to limit the screen time before bed, instead reading and not looking at my phone.
Hope these ideas help you as they helped me sleep better. Occasionally, however, I still have trouble sleeping and have tried Natrol’s melatonin products. I personally tried their gummies specifically, and there are also Fast Dissolve or 3 o’clock melatonin varieties for different needs.
I wanted to share my review of the Natrol Melatonin Gummies with you as I found them very helpful. They come in the little plastic jar that is sealed, and I had 90 rubbers in the package I received. They only take one gummy bear at a time and I only use it occasionally when I need additional help *. I used the strawberry flavored ones and they taste and smell just like strawberries. I think they taste great and are also very soft. The gummies are gelatin-free – so good for vegetarians – and do not contain any synthetic colors, which I also like. I took them about 25 minutes before I went to sleep and the nights I took them I fell asleep faster and slept longer. + In the mornings it feels like I slept well. You really helped me!
If you’re like me, sometimes you wake up at night and can’t fall asleep. In that case, consider trying the other Natrol product. When I wake up at night I start to think about all the things I have to do tomorrow and then I can’t get back to sleep as I keep going through these things in my head. What I do now is keeping some of Natrol’s 3am melatonin in my bedside drawer. The tablet just dissolves on the tongue which was a great help. That means that when I wake up in the middle of the night, I have something to help me fall asleep. The tablet dissolves quickly and I gradually fall asleep. I have to say I usually go back to sleep in 30 minutes and this works for me!
All in all, I have some trouble sleeping, but 90% of the time I sleep well – as long as I exercise, avoid screens, and keep my sleep schedule. Natrol’s melatonin helps me the rest of the time and it’s something I’m comfortable with as it’s 100% drug-free and easy to use. However, if you have serious sleep problems, it is imperative to see a doctor.
Let me know what you think of this review of Natrol’s melatonin gummies. Is there anything else you would like to know?
